COMBATIVE TRAINING for the ARMED PROFESSIONAL Level II (CTAP II)

This course is the second level of the CTAP course. It builds on the combative principles of behavior, weapons use, and biomechanics that were introduced in CTAP I. Lectures cover hoplological topics from the science behind the importance of mindset in combative performance to the history and current manifestation of the warrior identity.

The CTAP II close quarters combative engagement training applies the principles learned in Level I in more intense adversarial scenarios, including room entry, other urban engagements and in the field. Some live fire training is conducted using a range of hand‑held weapons, but the majority of firearms training is adversarial.

As well, students will develop a greater understanding of use of body in force application, especially with a deeper understanding of the biomechanics of control and structural damage. Further, personal engagement training scenarios are conducted to hone the student's use of timing, distancing and movement, to manipulate the opponent for optimum targeting. Students become acquainted with a range of hand‑held weapons, from knives to batons to bayonets to handguns, in both personal use and in facing an opponent using these weapons.

This course also further develops effective use and application of the hunter’s (pseudo-predatory) mindset. The student's hunter mindset is expanded upon in several combative scenarios, including tracking and ambushing in both wilderness and urban environments. Almost all of the training in this course is done with a live adversary.
